Without water, we die. The second, is that it mirrors the volume and characteristics of knowledge \u2014 deep and incalculable like the ocean, and it flows like a river or a fountain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The gold metaphor works on a transactional level; it attempts quantify the incalculable value of knowledge. We can only refer to things we know are valuable, and then say, \u201cknowledge is more valuable than that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Light doesn\u2019t describe the knowledge as much as it describes a person\u2019s situation without knowledge. In darkness, a person cannot perceive what is or isn\u2019t there, whether there are dangers or sustenance. In darkness, you don\u2019t even know what you don\u2019t know.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowledge illuminates.
