Who is this servant? What is the promise? At first read, it looks like this verse is an echo of the thirteen attributes mentioned in Exodus 34:7-8. That would make the servant Moses. The only issue is that the &#8220;steadfast love&#8221; appears there, but not the comfort. Yes God saves the Jewish people at Moses&#8217; behest, but the word is missing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are two other places where a similar echo of the thirteen attributes appear- in Jonah 4;2 and in Joel 2:13. In both selections, God shows <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">chesed<\/span><\/em><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201clove,\u201d and also <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nachem<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201ccomfort.\u201d Interestingly both Jonah and Joel begin with the Hebrew letter <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">yud<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Although anachronistic, if David is the author of this Psalm it is a very interesting coincidence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","image":false,"embedded_video":"","video_duration":"","show_fb_comments":true,"credit_media":""},"tile":{"top_caption":"\u05d9","main_caption":"Comforting Chesed","main_caption_size":"1","sub_caption":"76.
