\nI
\nDespite the winter’s cold, do you believe?<\/em>
\nDespite the blizzard winds, the hail, the sleet,<\/em>
\nThe snow, do you believe that summer’s heat <\/em>
\nCan melt the stubborn icicles which cleave<\/em><\/p>\n

To us like mourners’ tears when mourners grieve?<\/em>
\nDespite the growing numbness in our feet,<\/em>
\nDo you believe the winter may retreat<\/em>
\nIf summer comes and grants us a reprieve?<\/em><\/p>\n

Although our eyes are scratched by ice, we see
\nThe scrolls that Moses wrote, which stand like trees
\nInside a verdant orchard spring conceives,<\/p>\n

Untouched by autumn’s chill. Each leafy tree
\nBears fruit, to which we crawl on hands and knees,
\nFor anyone who eats their fruit \u2014 believes.<\/p>\n

\nII
\nDo you believe, despite the summer’s heat<\/em>
\nWhich makes us pant like dogs, do you believe<\/em>
\nThat soothing coolness can return, retrieve<\/em>
\nLost memories of rain, and then defeat<\/em><\/p>\n

The sun? Despite the fact that we entreat<\/em>
\nThe clouds in vain, despite the fact we grieve<\/em>
\nFor green, do you believe we can achieve<\/em>
\nA vision where the spring and autumn meet?<\/em><\/p>\n

Although our eyes are scorched and burned, we see
\nThe scrolls that Moses wrote, which stand like trees
\nInside a distant orchard spring perceives,<\/p>\n

For which the autumn waits. Each stately tree
\nBears fruit, to which we crawl on hands and knees,
\nFor anyone who eats their fruit \u2014 believes.<\/p>\n

\nIII
\nDespite the winter’s cold and summer’s heat,<\/em>
\nThe hidden orchard grows. Despite extremes <\/em>
\nOf fluctuating temperatures, it seems<\/em>
\nThe orchard flourishes, lush and complete,<\/em><\/p>\n

While in the orchard’s shade, small pebbles greet <\/em>
\nEach other as the orchard’s tranquil streams<\/em>
\nDiscreetly flow to irrigate our dreams,<\/em>
\nIn which we pluck the orchard’s fruit and eat.<\/em><\/p>\n

Although the weather changes constantly,
\nThe orchard does not change. It will not freeze
\nIn winter, nor will summer sear its leaves, <\/p>\n

Its branches or its roots. But who can be
\nIts gardener, or claim he climbs its trees?
\nFor he who boasts he owns its all \u2014
