A casual reader of the text may assume the chapter merely talks about the splitting of the sea. In fact, the author of this psalm takes poetic license in combining the multiple water miracles.\u00a0 Verse three discusses the splitting of the sea as well as the splitting of the Jordan River described in Joshua. Finally, verse 8 discusses the miracle of water taken from the rocks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the wilderness, water was a source of safety for the Israelites. It helped sustain and save the people during their sojourn, and acted like a bookend to their story. The poetic license taken by the author helps tell a thematic story. A story that pushes the reader to want to praise God for life sustaining
