Echoes of Hannah\u2019s prayer<\/em>. 446 chapters ago, in the prayer of Hannah, mother of Samuel (1 Sam ch. 2), the childless woman who gave birth, we met a similar idea, in expanded form: \u201cMen once sated must hire out for bread; Men once hungry hunger no more. While the barren woman bears seven, The mother of many is forlorn. The LORD deals death and gives life, Casts down into Sheol and raises up. The LORD makes poor and makes rich; He casts down, He also lifts high. He raises the poor from the dust, Lifts up the needy from the dunghill, Setting them with nobles, Granting them seats of honor\u2026\u201d Note that in Psalm 113 – only one possibility for a change of destiny is presented.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. \u2018Akeret habayit (\u201cthe childless woman\u201d – verse 9)<\/em>.<\/span><\/i> This is the origin of the modern Hebrew phrase, \u2018<\/span>akeret bayit<\/span><\/i>, meaning \u201chousewife.\u201d But rather than <\/span>\u2018akar, <\/span><\/i>\u201csterile\u201d or \u201cchildless,\u201d the modern Hebrew echoes <\/span>\u2018ikkar<\/span><\/i>, the \u201cessence\u201d
