You let me <br \/>\nPretend<br \/>\nWe can bring each other back<br \/>\nFrom the brink of death, but death<\/p>\n<p>Is never where you stand,<br \/>\nSo you, in your mercy,<br \/>\nLet me pretend<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m a memory<br \/>\nIt would sadden you to forget, a rumor<\/p>\n<p>You neither confirm nor deny<\/p>\n<p>Because that\u2019s the way<br \/>\nYou keep me alive. To make<\/p>\n<p>What you pretend is love<\/p>\n<p>Both of us have to lie.<\/p>\n<p>\n<em>In this psalm the author writes \u201ca hand on the feverish forehead of some concept of justice that makes you sick.\u201d It called to mind the line in Psalm 110 which reads \u201cHe will mete out justice to the nations. [He will make of them] a heap of corpses.
