Psalm 106 discusses the dark side of the Exodus. The Israelites are called out for forsaking God and forgetting what he had done for them in Egypt. The infamous stories of the Golden Calf and the ground swallowing up Dathan and Abiram appear here. The point of this psalm is that despite all of the bad things the Israelites did, God forgave them and saved them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On a deeper level, the psalm is written as if the Israelites are admitting what they did and accepting the punishment. When combined with psalm 105, these two psalms offer two different ways of connecting to God. Each is important. In a close relationship with God, both the good times (105) and the hard times (106) are important. Any true relationship is not as smooth sailing as Psalm 105. By focusing on both, the psalmist is painting a full picture of the true relationship between God and the Israelites.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","image":{"ID":88499,"id":88499,"title":"ps106-dark
