Psalm 105:<\/p>\n

When and Why:<\/em>
\nDavid might have written this psalm about the bringing up of the Ark from the house of Oved to the City of David in Jerusalem.<\/p>\n

Genre:<\/em>
\nPsalm of Wisdom–This psalm contains teachings and wise advice and is meant to instruct people on how to live a Godly life.<\/p>\n

Chapter Summary:<\/em>
\nThe psalmist, perhaps King David, composed this psalm when he joyously brought up the Aron HaKodesh (Holy Ark) to the City of David. He describes all that transpired with Israel from the time they descended to Egypt until they entered the Holy Land, and enjoins all adherents of the Torah to make God\u2019s glory known to the world.<\/p>\n

This psalm consists of forty-five verses, subdivided into four parts.
\nIn verses 1-6, the psalmist calls upon the congregation to thank God and tell of His wonders.
\nIn verses 7-25, he describes the attributes of God in the fulfillment of His covenant with the patriarchs, and further speaks of the substance of the covenant. He pays homage to the patriarchs, Joseph as the viceroy of Egypt, and the Israelites as a whole in their enslavement.
\nIn verse 26-43, he details the plagues in Egypt, the subsequent exodus, and the wandering in the wilderness.
\nIn verses 44 and 45, the singer concludes with praises of God as the driving force behind the conquest of the promised land.<\/p>\n

Shimush Tehillim–When to Say:<\/em>
\nTo relieve a fever (some say this in the 4th hour of the day)–Verse 20 states: \u201cThe King sent messengers and released him, the ruler of the peoples, and set him free.\u201d<\/p>\n
