But, as scholarship has abundantly documented, this line, like several others in this psalm, sounds quite close to a line from the fourteenth-century B.C.E hymn to the sun associated with the Pharaoh Akhnaton that was found at Amarna (see Aaron Koller\u2019s post on that poem on today\u2019s page). <br \/>\nBecause poetry in all eras work through allusion, it is hardly necessary to understand this poem as an \u201cadaptation\u201d of Akhnaton\u2019s hymn. The Hebrew poet may well have borrowed phrases from it, or from a Canannite intermediary, but in the psalm there is no sun god.
