Psalm 104:<\/p>\n

Genre:<\/em>
\nPsalm of Praise–This is a psalm of celebration, often the result of a victory. It declares God\u2019s goodness and urges all of creation to worship.<\/p>\n

Chapter Summary:<\/em>
\nIn this psalm, the author sings the praises of God for all that He included in nature, and for His continued conduct of the world as set during the Six Days of Creation. He concludes with a prayer for the downfall of the wicked, at which time all will proclaim \u201cHalleluyah\u201d.<\/p>\n

This psalm consists of thirty-five verses, subdivided into five parts.
\nIn verses 1-6, the psalmist pays homage to light, the heavens, water, clouds, wind and earth, and is thus filled with admiration and awe. He praises God for His wisdom and glory, revealed to us daily through nature.
\nIn verses 7-18, he continues his praise, referring to the land, sea and rivers, fruits, trees, and animals.
\nIn verses 19-26, he further speaks of the wonders of the sun and moon, day and night, and all living creatures of the sea.
\nIn verses 27-30, he references the cycles of decay and renewal in the natural order.
\nIn verses 31-35, the singer concludes by extolling God\u2019s joy in His world, which he correlates with his own rejoicing in the Lord.<\/p>\n

Shimush Tehillim–When to Say:<\/em>
\nTo be free of a harmful force–Verse 35 states: \u201cSin will be excised from the earth, and the wicked will be no more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Talmud on Tehillim:<\/em>
\nVerse 35: \u201cSin will be excised from the earth.\u201d
\nThe Talmud, Berachot 9b, teaches that King David recited one hundred three chapters of Tehillim (Psalms), but did not proclaim \u201cHalleluyah\u201d in any of them, until he prophetically perceived the downfall of the wicked and was then moved to sing Halleluyah!<\/p>\n
