Yet there is a significant grammatical difference between the opening verse and the closing ones. In the opening verses the blessing comes from the author&#8217;s own soul:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Bless the LORD, O my soul, all my being, His holy name.&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Bless the LORD, O my soul and do not forget all His bounties.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The psalm ends with the following three verses:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Bless the LORD, O His angels, mighty creatures who do His bidding, ever obedient to His bidding,&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;bless the LORD, all His hosts, His servants who do His will,&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;bless the LORD, all His works, through the length and breadth of His realm; bless the LORD, O my soul.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In these three, others are called on to bless God. King David is trying to teach us that one must be able to praise God by themselves and only then will they be worthy of calling on others to do the
