  1. Like the birds<\/em>. In verses 7-8, the psalmist tells of his loneliness with images of two birds: \u201cI am like a great owl in the wilderness, an owl among the ruins. I lie awake; I am like a lone bird upon a roof.\u201d These two winged creatures, the great desert owl (<\/span>ke\u2019at<\/span><\/em>) and the owl among the ruins (<\/span>kos<\/span><\/em>) live in unsettled or abandoned places, and perhaps their calls too sound like forlorn cries.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Echoes of the prophets<\/em>. The vision of Jerusalem as the focal point for all believers, members of all nations (verses 16 and 23) is one we have met previously, such as Isaiah 2 and 56.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. People yet to be created may praise the LORD<\/em>. National renaissance is like being reborn, and that\u2019s a good reason to say \u201cHallel\u201d (praise).<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Death is always in the middle of life<\/em>. That\u2019s what verse 25 might mean (\u201cdo not take me away in the midst of my days\u201d) – because who knows how many years are allotted to us?<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. A change of clothes<\/em>. That\u2019s the image in verse 27 that explains the eternity of God in relation to the transience of the world: \u201cThey [the heavens] shall perish, but You shall endure; they shall all wear out like a garment; You change them like clothing and they pass away. But You are the same, and Your years never end.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":86314,"id":86314,"title":"Points to
