  1. It\u2019s possible.<\/em> There are other psalms that try to sketch the profile of the righteous person, and speak of that ideal (see Ps 15 and Ps 24 for example). Here it is the righteous person who speaks in the first person, which is one way of saying that it is indeed an achievable goal.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. At home too<\/em>. Verse 2 touches on a well-known weakness. It\u2019s actually often the nuclear family that challenges our patience, generosity and our \u201crighteousness.\u201d The real <\/span>tzadik<\/span><\/em> is on who \u201cwill live without blame within my house.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Pauper – or prince<\/em>? Who is the narrator of the psalm – one of the people, or a leader of some sort? On the one hand, there is not a word that we\u2019re talking about some authority. On the other, there are hints that this person has servants, and most importantly: that they have the power to rid Jerusalem of evildoers: \u201cEach morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land, to rid the city of the LORD of all evildoers.\u201d However, does one have to be a king to do that?
