\nMajestic are the gleaming vessels built
\nTo cross the sea and reach You, God; some build
\nGreat steamships from compassion’s steel, then gild
\nThe hull with wisdom’s gold till all the steel is gilt.
\nSuch vessels shine, like stars from heaven’s quilt
\nThe just had gathered, one by one, then spilled
\nUpon the earth as promises fulfilled,
\nAs acts of mercy, perfect to the hilt.<\/p>\n

But I, who lack the worthy, sterling deeds
\nOf righteous men, still hope I may embark
\nUpon this trip if I construct a raft
\nOf words \u2014 though words are weaker than the reeds
\nThat lined the Nile to hide a tiny ark.
\nGrant me the skill, O Lord, grant me the
