  1. A new song<\/em>. This psalm, like 96, invites us to \u201cSing to the LORD a new song.\u201d Read Ps 96 again, to understand that this psalm, 98, actually does sing a completely new song on the same theme.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Faithfulness v. Equity<\/em>. As long as we\u2019re comparing this psalm with PS 96, what do you think of the one-word contrast between the endings of the two psalms? 96 – \u201cHe will rule the world justly, and its peoples in faithfulness.\u201d Compared with the closing verse of this psalm – \u201cHe will rule the world justly, and its peoples with equity\u201d?<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Musical repertoire<\/em>. That\u2019s what\u2019s described in verses 4-8. The players, instruments and vocalists: \u201cSing praise to the LORD with the lyre, with the lyre and melodious song.With trumpets and the blast of the horn raise a shout before the LORD, the King. Let the sea and all within it thunder, the world and its inhabitants; let the rivers clap their hands, the mountains sing joyously together.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. No borders<\/em>. In this psalm there is no tension between national salvation and universal justice and equity.
