  1. Now that\u2019s how you receive the Shabbat<\/em>. This psalm was included in the prayer book as the opening psalm for the Kabbalat Shabbat service, beginning with the invitation: \u201c<\/span>Lech neranena<\/span><\/em>, <\/span><\/i>Come, let us sing joyously to the Lord.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Today, too<\/em>. A daily condition for connection: \u201cO, if you would but heed His charge this day\u201d (verse 7).<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Desert memories<\/em>. In the Book of Exodus, (chapter 17, 595 chapters ago), we heard of a place called \u201cMassah and Meribah, because the Israelites quarreled and because they tried the LORD, saying, \u2018Is the LORD present among us or not?\u2019\u201d(verse 7). In the Book of Numbers (ch. 20, only 525 chapters ago), we read of the complaints, and of Moses\u2019 sin at \u201cthe Waters of Meribah\u2014meaning that the Israelites quarreled with the LORD\u2014through which He affirmed His sanctity;\u201d the punishment the people received, to wander for 40 years in the desert, is described at length in Num. 13-14, as the punishment for the sin of the spies.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Surprising reaction<\/em>? What do you think of God\u2019s reaction to the praise offered Him in the first half of the verse? Is it – surprising? cringe-worthy?
