  1. God of retribution\/vengeance.<\/em> Not a very common name of God. But it explains very accurately what sort of appearance in the world, what sort of treatment of the wicked, the psalmist is calling for in this first part of the psalm.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Song of Wednesday<\/em>. The psalm + the opening verses of the next psalm are the song of the day for Wednesday. That is, according to tradition, the Levites in the Temple sang this psalm every Wednesday. Today, as a remembrance, it is part of the morning prayers for Wednesday, along with the other psalms that are assigned to each of the days of the week..<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Same problem<\/em>. In verse 7, the honest people complain that the wicked ones think that God doesn\u2019t see: \u201cthey kill …thinking, \u201cThe LORD does not see it, the God of Jacob does not pay heed.\u201d But starting from verse 8, it turns out that actually the complainers, too, have the same problem with their faith. The sub-text of their complaint about the success of the wicked is that God doesn\u2019t see and doesn\u2019t deal with them.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Same request<\/em>. Both the complainers in the verse part of the psalm, and also the psalmist who criticizes their complaint in the second part, want the same thing: the destruction of the wicked, but from two different perspectives.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Particular and general<\/em>. Who are the wicked in the psalm, and who exactly are they hurting? From verses 5-6 it seems that they are the enemies that \u201cThey crush Your people, O LORD, they afflict Your very own.\u201d But from other verses, there is a possibility that these are just plain old nasty folks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":86314,"id":86314,"title":"Points to
