The first two parts of the psalm describe God’s magnificence; the third part describes his gift to mankind.\u00a0 While the first two parts are more complete in the number of their verses and their usage of God’s name, the incompleteness of the third section makes it all the more meaningful. The fact that God’s teachings can transform our imperfect world into becoming “Your house” is the greatest praise that can be said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The following story in the Talmud (Shabbat 88b) gives a behind the scenes view of the heavens as Moses went to receive the Torah. It also reflects the educational viewpoint of psalm 93:<\/span><\/p>\n

When Moses ascended on high, the ministering angels said before the Holy One, Blessed be He, \u201cMaster of the world, what is someone born of a woman doing among us?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

God said to them: \u201cHe has come to receive the Torah.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

They said before Him: \u201cThe coveted treasure that was stored away by You for nine hundred and seventy-four generations before the world was created, You intend to give it to flesh and blood?… God our Master, how mighty is Your Name throughout the world, so that You should bestow Your glory upon the heavens!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Said the Holy One, Blessed be He, to Moses: \u201cGive them an answer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Moses said before Him: \u201cMaster of the world, I am fearful lest they burn me with the breath in their mouths!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

God said to him: \u201cGrasp hold of My Throne of Glory and give them an answer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Moses said before Him: \u201cMaster of the world, the Torah that You are giving me, what is written in it? \u2018I am God your God Who has taken you out of the Land of Egypt.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201dMoses said to the angels: \u201cDid you descend to Egypt? Were you enslaved to Pharaoh? Why should the Torah be yours? \u201cWhat else is written there? \u2018There shall not be unto you the gods of others.\u2019 Do you live among nations who worship idols?\u2026\u201c\u2018You shall not murder; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal.\u2019 Is there envy among you? Is there an evil inclination among you?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Immediately, they agreed with the Holy One, Blessed be He\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\n
