Psalm 93:<\/p>\n

Author:<\/em>
\nMoses–the leader of the Israelites and receiver of the Torah at Sinai, a shepherd chosen by God for his humility and loyalty to his sheep. The penultimate verse of the Torah describes him as the greatest prophet of all time.<\/p>\n

When and Why:<\/em>
\nMoses wrote this psalm prophetically about the days of Messiah, when God\u2019s glory will be revealed in full to the entire world and all of humanity will recognize that God rules the universe.<\/p>\n

Genre:<\/em>
\nPsalm of Enthronement–This psalm extols God\u2019s royal role in the universe.
\nPsalm of Praise–This is a psalm of celebration, often the result of a victory. It declares God\u2019s goodness and urges all of creation to worship.<\/p>\n

Chapter Summary:<\/em>
\nMoses here glorifies God\u2019s kingship, mighty strength, and total dominion. The series of psalms attributed to Moses (90-100) allude, among other things, to the Days of the Messiah, when all mankind will recognize that \u201cthe Lord is King\u201d over all the land.<\/p>\n

This psalm consists of five verses, subdivided into three sections.
\nIn verses 1 and 2, the psalmist assures the reader that God\u2019s kingdom endures forever.
\nIn verses 3 and 4, he asserts that God is mightier than His enemies.
\nIn verse 5, he further proclaims that God will dwell in His house \u201cfor the length of days\u201d.<\/p>\n

Shimush Tehilim–When to Say:<\/em>
\nTo defeat an opponent in court–Verse 5 states: \u201cYour testimonies are extremely faithful, holiness is becoming to Your house, Adonoy–for the length of days.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where in the Siddur:<\/em>
\nRecited as the Shir Shel Yom<\/em> (Psalm of the Day) for Friday.
\nRecited as part of Kabbalat Shabbat (Friday night service).
\nRecited as one of the paragraphs of Pesukei Dezimra<\/em> (Verses of Praise introducing the Shacharit morning service) of Shabbat, Yom Tov (Festivals), and Hoshana Rabbah (seventh day of Sukkot).
\nVerse 1 is found in the Musaf Amidah<\/em> (Silent Meditation of Rosh HaShanah.<\/p>\n

Talmud on Tehillim:<\/em>
\nVerse 1: \u201cAdonoy had begun His reign He has clothed Himself in majesty.\u201d
\nThe Talmud, Rosh Hashanah 31b, teaches that this psalm was sung by the Levi\u2019im (Levites) in the Beit HaMikdash (Temple) on Friday.<\/p>\n
