It also does not belong to any obvious cultic genre of psalms. The Israeli scholar Yair Hoffman, noting its eloquent expression of God\u2019s unflagging providential protection, has interestingly characterized the poem as an \u201camulet psalm,\u201d with the idea that its recitation might help a person attain or perhaps simply feel God\u2019s guarding power.<\/p>\n<p>From: Robert Alter, <em>The Hebrew Bible<\/em>, vol. 3: Writings, W.
