\nIt’s not an easy thing to die, it’s not
\nAn easy thing to make believe I cling
\nTo hope when every day my doctors bring
\nMe proof how sick my body is. Yet what
\nCan doctors do, but sigh? There’s not a lot
\nOf time till winter reigns, for by the spring
\nMy branch will break; it’s not an easy thing
\nTo keep a forest in a flowerpot.<\/p>\n

I feel the autumn’s chill. My daughter looks
\nAt me, then turns aside to cry. Her task
\nIs hard, explaining to her son that I
\nWill never play with him or read him books.
\nO Lord, it’s not an easy thing You ask
