  1. Desirable oversight<\/em>. There are times when you want others to simply ignore you. That it all gets swept under the rug. Covered, and – disappeared. As in verse 3: \u201cpardon [lit. \u201ccover\u201d]\u00a0 all their sins.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. A winning combo<\/em>. How does one bring together: \u201cFaithfulness and truth… justice and well-being [or: peace]\u201d and what is the unique connotation and contribution of each? Is the catalyst for this process, from above, the Divine presence that has come back to the Land (Ibn Ezra), or is it actually from below, the speaking of truth among the people that brings the \u201cfaithfulness\u201d (<\/span>chesed<\/span><\/em>) back to the Land and its people (Rashi)? Worth looking at the commentaries.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Justice<\/em>. Justice is mentioned three times in verses 11-14. Quantity here emphasizes quality. For just as verse 14 claims, justice is the leading value in God\u2019s rule on earth, \u201cJustice goes before Him as He sets out on His way.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. \u201cTruth springs up from the earth.\u201d<\/em> Perhaps the intent isn\u2019t the ultimate future, but rather every day since the creation of humans, truth springs up from the earth, as the midrash imagines:\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u201cR. Simon said. When the Holy One, blessed be He, came to create Adam, the angels were divided over it. Some said he should not be created, while others said he should. This is what is stated: \u201cFaithfulness and truth meet; justice and well-being kiss\u201d (11). Faithfulness said let him be created because he will perform acts of benevolence, while truth said he should not be created because he is full of falsehoods. Justice said let him be created because he acts justly, while well-being [alt: peace] said let him not be created because he is full of conflict.<\/span>
    \n<\/span>What did the Holy One, blessed be He, do? He took truth and cast it to the ground, as stated: \u201cYou cast truth earthwards\u201d (Daniel 8:12). The ministering angels said before the Holy One, blessed be He: Master of the universe. Why are you humiliating your chief of the court ceremonies [i.e., the angel of truth]? Raise truth up from the ground. Whereupon it states: \u201cTruth springs up from the earth; justice looks down from heaven\u201d (12; Gen Rabbah 8:5).<\/span>
    \n<\/span>Ever since then there are on the earth shards of truth. Any given person only has some of them. How do they grow from the earth? Worth trying to think about that. <\/span><\/p>\n","image":{"ID":86314,"id":86314,"title":"Points to
