  1. On the gittith.<\/em> What is a \u201cgittith\u201d? Is it the name of a musical instrument, one that perhaps comes from the city of Gath? Or is it connected to a <\/span>gat yayin<\/span><\/em>, a winepress, where the song might have been sung as part of the grape harvest celebrations? Or might it be the name of a Levitical family? All of these and more are possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Monthly – or maybe yearly?<\/em>\u00a0Verse 4, connects the psalm to the calendar: \u201cBlow the horn on the new moon, on the full moon for our feast day.\u201d But is this connected to the monthly New Moon (<\/span>rosh chodesh<\/span><\/em>)<\/span><\/i>? Or is it Rosh Hashanah, the new year? Or perhaps a different festival altogether? From the Torah, we are familiar with 1 Tishri as <\/span>yom teruah<\/span><\/em>, the day we blow the shofar, and the new moons, and the other festivals as times when trumpets were sounded.<\/span><\/li>\n
