We have seen references to the splitting of the sea before and other discrete events in Jewish history, but this is a very detailed and long Psalm. It raises the question- why now? What could have inspired Asaph to write such a detailed historical record of the early history of the Israelites?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If we go back to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.929.org.il\/lang\/en\/page\/641\/post\/85385\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the analysis of Psalm 74<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we assumed there that Asaph composed his psalms sometime around the destruction of the Temple, either the first or second. During this time of upheaval and uncertainty, it makes sense that Asaph would reference the travels of the Israelites in the wilderness.
