  1. Memories. The verb \u201cremember\u201d appears in verses 4, 7 and 12: it is a central verb for the entire psalm. What does the psalmist remember? God\u2019s previous closeness, as well as the hurts he suffered, but also God\u2019s great deeds in the past.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Sleepless. Verses 3 and 5 touch on the physical experience of lack of sleep: \u201c[my eyes] flow all night without respite;\u201d constant weeping, \u201cYou have held my eyelids open; I am overwrought, I cannot speak\u201d I can\u2019t rest and shut my eyes, I can\u2019t even speak because of the emotional strain.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Wet victories. Verses 17-20 speak of the power of God in subduing the waters and the heavens. Verse 20 connects the description to the Exodus, but it\u2019s also worth remembering that subduing the deep also connects to the Creation story, and associated mythology, which is the<\/em> story of
