“In Judah is God known, in Israel His name is great. In Salem also is His tabernacle, and His dwelling-place in Zion.” (Psalm 76:2-3)<\/p>\n

\nCombing my beach, I find this night’s debris:
\nTwisted pieces of driftwood on the sand,
\nDiscarded shells, all chipped or broken, and
\nA jellyfish vomited by the sea.
\nWhere are the pearls my mother promised me
\nWhen I was small, when she would stroke her hand
\nUpon my brow before I slept, and fanned
\nMy dreams with visions of a coral-tree?<\/p>\n

But far beyond my narrow strip of mud
\nFlows Israel’s ocean, vast, pure and wide.
\nAs wide as heaven. Soon, yes very soon,
\nThe tide will turn and rushing waves will flood
\nMy shore with treasures from the deep; the tide
\nWill turn, please God, pulled by Jerusalem’s moon.
