The first consists of chapters 1-41, the third is 73-89, the fourth is 90-106, and the fifth is 107-150. Four of these markers share a common literary feature: they conclude with the word <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amen<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (41:14, 72:19, 89:53, and 106:48). As Robert Alter noted: \u201cThe three verses that begin here [18-20] are not part of the psalm but an editorial coda\u2026 that marks the end of the second book of Psalms\u201d (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Holy Bible<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, vol. 3, 175).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The exception, the last verse in the entire book, ends with <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">halleluyah<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which might explain why it is followed immediately, in the liturgy of the <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shacharit<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> service, by the verse: \u201cMay the Lord be blessed forever, amen and amen\u201d (89:53), which is quite similar to v. 19 here. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.929.org.il\/lang\/en\/page\/568\/post\/79911\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In our introduction to Psalms<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we took note of the opinion of Se`adyah Gaon, who compared Psalms to the Torah based, in part, on their respective divisions into five books.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The singular appearance of the notification that \u201cthe prayers (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tefilot<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) of David\u201d conclude here addresses the second significant milestone, namely, the assertion that the balance of the book is not attributable only to David. In our aforementioned introduction, we also took note of the exegetical disagreement regarding the authorship of Psalms; here we might add that the opinion of Se`adyah, who attributed the entire book to David, concurs with that of the <\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tanna<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Rabbi Meir who adduced the same conclusion from a homiletical reading of our verse: \u201cDo not read \u2018end\u2019 (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kalu<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), but \u2018all these\u2019 (<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kol \u2018eilu<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)\u201d (Yalkut Shim`oni on our verse).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Curiously, David\u2019s name appears another thirty times in Psalms, but this verse is the only one in the entire book to mention the name of his father as
