  1. Psalms and roses (shoshannim<\/em>). The heading of the psalm \u201cFor the leader. On shoshannim (\u201croses\u201d),\u201d opens a psalm that is more thorns than roses. If you remember the heading for Psalm 45, the psalm for the royal wedding, there too was \u201cFor the leader. On shoshannim.\u201d The very different content with the same heading leads to the conclusion that the heading serves more as a technical direction, perhaps connected to the musical performance, or the placement of the choir.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Who am I<\/em>? Is the psalm more of a personal lamentation of one who suffers, or the voice of a group that is being persecuted? You can read the psalm in both ways – give it a try.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Danger – drowning<\/em>!
