adrift on flimsy rafts<\/p>\n

pushed by currents we cannot control<\/p>\n

we’re swept<\/p>\n

towards the edge of the world<\/p>\n

where the ocean falls over the brink
\nwhere the ocean cascades and crashes
\nwhere we drown<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

we hear<\/p>\n

the shrieks of vultures<\/p>\n

flying over our rafts<\/p>\n

waiting for us to fall over
\nwaiting for our carcasses to surface
\nwaiting to eat<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

we see<\/p>\n

the dorsal fins of sharks<\/p>\n

circling our rafts<\/p>\n

sniffing our fear
\nsmelling our blood<\/p>\n

the sea water is acid<\/p>\n

slowly devouring<\/p>\n

slowly dissolving<\/p>\n

our rafts’ rotting wood<\/p>\n

is there no harbor<\/p>\n

no island for refuge<\/p>\n

no wharf where we may dock<\/p>\n

is this our life<\/p>\n

is this our grave<\/p>\n
