It declares God’s goodness and urges all of creation to worship.
Psalm of Communal Thanksgiving–This psalm emphasizes gratitude for what God has done for the community as a whole.

Chapter Summary:
In this psalm, the singer depicts the excellence of the Beit HaMikdash (Holy Temple). Here again, as in the previous chapter, the author is perhaps alluding to the exile, which he contrasts with the wonderful things that transpired beforehand. Divine deliverance, he admonishes, can come at any moment, and one must therefore not despair.

This psalm consists of twenty verses, subdivided into five parts.
In verses 1-4, the psalmist calls on all of the world’s inhabitants to praise God.
In verses 5-6, he describes the wonders God performed for His people in ancient times.
In verses 8-12, he tells of the adversity that faced the people of Israel from which they were delivered.
In verses 13-15, he proclaims that he will fulfill his vows to God.
In verses 16-20, he concludes by expressing thanksgiving for the acceptance of his prayer.

Technical Terminology:
Selah–While its meaning is unclear, the most familiar opinion is that it is a musical notation, instructing the Levitical orchestra to pause its singing and playing of instruments.
