God looks down from above searching for a righteous person and does not find one. Instead man is depraved and corrupt. Then something happens that causes God to &#8220;scatter the bones of those encamped against him.&#8221; At first, this sounds like it could be a reference to the flood story, where God looks down on the land and sees that man has become evil and destructive and worthy of punishment. Yet, in that story he does find the righteous Noah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perhaps, then, this refers to the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. While not a narrative of all of mankind, this story also has God looking down at a depraved society and planning their destruction. Abraham tries to intervene, pleading with God to save the city. While negotiating with God, he tries to find a group of righteous citizens, but alas, comes up empty. The only person saved is Lot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ending of this psalm also has a connection to that story. At the end of the psalm there is a call for salvation from Zion in the form of the kingdom of David. After the destruction of Sodom, Lot&#8217;s daughters, believing God had destroyed the whole world, seduce their father and become pregnant.
