“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God\u2026” (Psalm 53:2)<\/p>\n

In all my classes, all my teachers taught,
\n“There is no God,” for all our scholars said,
\n“There is no God,” and in their books, we read
\n“There is no God” \u2014 so this is what I thought.
\nOn labels of the underpants I bought \u2014
\n“There is no God;” on every loaf of bread \u2014
\n“There is no God;” on every stitch of thread \u2014
\n“There is no God” \u2014 there is no God, in short.<\/p>\n

But nonetheless, when all alone at night
\nI hear a Flute, and as it plays, I see
\nThe shadows of a Shepherd’s Staff and Rod
\nAs surely as I see that snow is white
\nAnd coal is black; as if a famished bee,
