  1. Doppel-ps\u00e4lmer.<\/em> Psalm 14 and today\u2019s psalm are almost identical in content. The small differences are in the musical instructions at the beginning, the name of God and a few synonyms. An interesting difference is found in verse 6. In Psalm 14, it reads: \u201cThere they will be seized with fright, for God is present in the circle of the righteous. You may set at naught the counsel of the lowly, but the LORD is his refuge.\u201d And here: \u201cThere they will be seized with fright \u2014never was there such a fright\u2014 for God has scattered the bones of your besiegers; you have put them to shame, for God has rejected them.\u201d <\/span>
    \n<\/span>Fear is present in both, and also its remedy. In 14, God is a refuge for the lone righteous against the plan the wicked have against him. In Psalm 53 – God performs a more collective salvation, and the defeat of enemies all around.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Scattering the enemy<\/em>. If the description of the scattering of the camp of the foes and national salvation remind you too of the downfall of Sennecharib at the gates of Jerusalem (701 BCE) – you\u2019re not alone. It\u2019s one of the central approaches of the commentators – but there are also other interpretations. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":53645,"id":53645,"title":"general-qs-points to
