Psalm 53:<\/p>\n

Author:<\/em>
\nKing David–the second king of Israel and father of the Davidic royal and messianic dynasty. David composed over seventy of the 150 psalms of Sefer Tehillim.<\/p>\n

When and Why:<\/em>
\nDavid wrote this psalm prophetically about the destruction of the second Temple.<\/p>\n

Genre:<\/em>
\nPsalm of Individual Lament–This psalm was written from the perspective of the individual worshipper, who cries out to God in his time of need. It is characterized as an address to God involving a complaint, followed by a request and ending with an expression of trust.<\/p>\n

Chapter Summary:<\/em>
\nIn this psalm, David speaks against those who destroyed the second Temple as well as those who deny Divine Providence.<\/p>\n

This psalm consists of seven verses, subdivided into three parts. The first verse serves as a heading.
\nIn verses 2-4, the Psalmist speaks of the wicked, corrupt fools, who think that man\u2019s actions are not subject to reward and punishment.
\nIn verses 5 & 6, he rebukes those who engage in iniquity.
\nIn verse 7, the concluding verse, King David offers a prayer for salvation.<\/p>\n

Shimush Tehillim-When to Say:<\/em>
\nTo scare an enemy (say every day)–Verses 5 & 6 state: \u201cDo they not know, workers of iniquity, who devour My people as they eat bread, and unto Adonoy they had not called? There they were in great fear, a fear such as never was, for God has scattered the bones of those who encamped against you, you have put them to shame because God has rejected them.\u201d<\/p>\n
