As such, He has no need for sacrificial offerings. While a sacrifice indeed brings honor to God, if the proper attitude of remorse and repentance are lacking, the offering becomes meaningless. The author concludes by declaring that God will show his salvation to the people who improves his ways.

This psalm consists of twenty-three verses, subdivided into four parts.
The first verse serves as a heading.
In verses 2-7, the psalmist describes, with beautiful imagery, the revelation of the Divine Presence.
In verses 8-15, God Himself offers words of rebuke relating to the sincerity of sacrifices.
In verses 16-21, God directs his rebuke toward the wicked who associate with robbers and adulterers.
In verses 22 & 23, Asaf concludes by declaring that God desires the sacrifices offered with a pure heart and with the proper intentions.

Shimush Tehillim–When to Say:
To be saved from enemies and bandits–Verse 15 & 16 state: “And call upon Me in the day of trouble, I will free you, and you will honor Me. As Jerusalem is located in a mountainous area, water was drawn in annually on the Festival of Sukkot. This verse admonished all present to rid themselves of any ill feelings, and to be happy and thankful to God on this joyous occasion.

Excerpted from From Your Lips To God’s Ears, by Reuben Ebrahimoff available on Amazon.

psalms -
