The first time this word appears in the final poetic prayer of Moses at the end of Deuteronomy. (32: 1) &#8220;Give ear, O heavens, let me speak; Let the earth hear the words I utter!&#8221;\u00a0 In our psalm the verse reads: &#8220;Hear this all peoples, listen all inhabitants of the decaying world.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moses\u2019 call for witnesses rings out to the eternal heaven and earth: immovable objects that can act as witnesses to Moses&#8217; prayer forever. The Sons of Korah have a more immediate target, the people of the world. This psalm acts not as the everlasting tribute to God, but as a directed tribute to those who are alive in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This phrasing of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>ha\u2019azinu<\/em> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is actually used later by the prophet Joel. In the introduction to his book in the minor prophets, chapter 1:2: &#8220;Listen to this, O elders, Give ear, all inhabitants of the land.
