Having gone through the first 40 Psalms authored by King David, this psalm is similar to the second speaker at the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shul <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dinner who in turn thanks the first speaker who spent their whole speech thanking everyone else.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sons of Korah use a very deliberate metaphor in verse seven: &#8220;Your throne O judge, is forever and ever, the scepter of equity is the scepter of your kingdom.&#8221; This metaphor references the blessing of Jacob in Genesis 49:10: &#8220;The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler\u2019s staff from between his feet; So that tribute shall come to him And the homage of peoples be his.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why would the sons of Korah choose to reference this passage? Perhaps it is a direct response to the story of their forefather- Korah. Korah&#8217;s message was that God&#8217;s anointing of Moses as the leader was wrong, and that Korah himself had a right to be a ruler. By alluding to this blessing of Jacob that kingship will stay with the tribe of Judah, the descendants of Korah are further pledging their allegiance to the Davidic line and renouncing the rebellion of their
