“But as for me, I am poor and destitute; the Lord will take this into account. You are my aid and my helper, my God, do not tarry.” (Psalm 40:18)<\/p>\n

\nLike an orphan I come before You, poor
\nAnd bare, as if I were my father’s book
\nWhose pages blew away when tempests shook
\nThe house he built. My God, I come before
\nYou destitute, yet ask You to ignore
\nMy empty hands and vacant eyes that look
\nAskew, recalling how the storm winds took
\nAway the treasures that my father swore<\/p>\n

He would bequeath to me. But should I find
\nMy father’s fortune or his wedding ring,
\nOr should I find the pages which were lost
\nThe day my father died and I turned blind,
\nI’ll take my father’s legacy and bring
\nIt all to You, no matter what the
