On the surface, this is an apt metaphor for people that lived by farming and herding. Grass would grow all over, and they would be able to picture the grass being cut, and the grass turning brown as it dried out in the late summer. This matches the initial understanding of David&#8217;s metaphor. Fear not, for just as the grass may seem ubiquitous, it can easily be cut down and eventually it withers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, there is a second level to the metaphor. These very same people would know that even though they could cut the grass, and that it would wither in the late summer, the grass would return. Year after year. I think this is the second level. David is subtly hinting that one cannot take a break when it comes to the evil doers. Yes they may fail and seem to fade, but they will always come back, seemingly strong yet again. The battle against the evildoers, is like a that of a gardener against the wild grass. One must be vigilant or it will overtake your
