Psalm 36:<\/p>\n

Author:<\/em>
\nKing David–the second king of Israel and father of the Davidic royal and messianic dynasty. David composed over seventy of the 150 psalms of Sefer Tehillim.<\/p>\n

When and Why:<\/em>
\nDavid wrote this psalm about the heretics who pretend they are righteous and lie about their true beliefs.<\/p>\n

Genre:<\/em>
\nPsalm of Individual Lament–This psalm was written from the perspective of the individual worshiper, who cries out to God in his time of need. It is characterized as an address to God involving a complaint, followed by a request and ending with an expression of trust.
\nPsalm of Wisdom–This psalm contains teachings and wise advice and is meant to instruct people on how to live a Godly life.<\/p>\n

Chapter Summary:<\/em>
\nKing David warns man against being led astray by the false arguments of the wicked. Man must know and acknowledge his Master, David implores, and realize that it is He who dispenses reward for good and retribution for evil.
\nThis psalm consists of thirteen verses, subdivided into three parts. The first verse serves as a heading.
\nIn verses 2-5, King David describes the thoughts and actions of the wicked.
\nIn verses 6-10, he expresses his trust that God\u2019s lovingkindness is so great that \u201cin the heavens is Your kindness, Your faithfulness is as far as the skies.\u201d He also speaks of God\u2019s faithfulness to those who keep His covenant.
\nIn verses 11-13, the Psalmist offers a prayer for protection against the wicked.<\/p>\n

Shimush Tehillim-When to Say:<\/em>
\nFor protection against evil tidings-Verse 12 states: \u201cand let not the hand of the wicked move me away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Where in the Siddur:<\/em>
\nVerse 7 is one of the verses of Tzidkatcha<\/em>, a short prayer following the Amidah of Mincha (afternoon service) of Shabbat. It is interesting to note that all three verses of this prayer begin with the word \u201ctzidkatcha<\/em>\u201d, literally meaning \u201cYour righteousness\u201d.
\nVerses 8-11 are recited following the wrapping of the Tallit prior to Shacharit (morning service).<\/p>\n
