Our psalm includes David\u2019s exclamation: \u201cAll my bones shall say: Lord, who is like You? You save the poor from one stronger than him, the poor and needy from one who would rob him\u201d (<\/span>Psalms 35:10<\/span><\/a>). This verse is incorporated in the glorification of God,\u00a0 <\/span>Nishmat Kol Chai<\/span><\/a><\/em>, recited at Shabbat morning services: \u201c\u2026Until now Your mercies have helped us, and Your kindness has not forsaken us. Therefore the organs You formed within us, the spirit and soul Your breathed into our nostrils and the tongue You placed in our mouth \u2013 they will thank and bless, praise and glorify, exalt and esteem, sanctify and do homage to Your name, O our King. For every mouth shall give thanks to You, every tongue shall vow allegiance to You, every knee shall bend to You, every upright body shall bow to You, all hearts shall fear You, and all our innermost feelings and thoughts shall sing praises to Your name, as is written: \u201cAll my bones shall say: Lord, who is like You? You save the poor from one stronger than him, the poor and needy from one who would rob him…\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Leviticus Rabbah 30:14<\/span><\/a> and parallels comment that \u201cAll of my bones\u201d refers to the four species in the <\/span>lulav. <\/span><\/i>The spine of the palm branch may be likened to the human spine. The myrtle leaf is the shape of the eye. The willow leaf is the shape of the mouth. And the <\/span>etrog<\/span><\/i> represents the human heart. David said, of all the parts of the human body these are the most important.<\/span><\/p>\n

Midrash Tehillim, Buber edition (35:2, pages 247-248) dramatizes the phrase: \u201cAll my bones\u2026\u201d. The Holy One, blessed be He asked David, What are you doing in My presence? David replied, I am praising you with every part of my body. My head I bend and bow in my prayer, and also I place <\/span>Tefillin<\/span><\/em> on my forehead. With my neck I fulfill the commandment of <\/span>Tzitzit<\/em> <\/span>(by wrapping myself in a <\/span>Tallit<\/span><\/em>)\u2026I hold these threads next to my heart the whole time I am reciting the <\/span>Shema\u2019,<\/span><\/i> as it is written: \u201cYou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart\u2026\u201d (<\/span>Deuteronomy 6:5<\/span><\/a>). Then I fling two corners of the <\/span>Tallit<\/span><\/em> behind me and two corners before me (see further<\/span> Tzitzit During the Shema’<\/span><\/a>)\u2026My knees I bend while reciting the <\/span>Amidah<\/span><\/em>\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Talmud Yerushalmi Berakhot<\/span><\/a> states that the eighteen blessings of the <\/span>Amidah<\/em> <\/span>correspond to the eighteen vertebrae of the spinal cord. For when a person stands and prays, in bowing, he bends all his vertebrae, for Scripture says: \u201cAll my bones shall say, O Lord, who is like You?\u201d (See further, Uri Ehrlich, <\/span>The
