  1. The angels get an assist<\/em>. In the divine assistance in the war against the enemies, there is a job for the angels. They actively accompany the fleeing enemies \u201cLet them be as chaff in the wind, the LORD\u2019s angel driving them on. Let their path be dark and slippery, with the LORD\u2019s angel in pursuit\u201d (verses 5-6).<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The psalm\u2019s body language<\/em>. Verse 10: \u201cAll my bones shall say, \u2018LORD, who is like You?\u2019\u201d is a key verse in the halachic interpretation of the use of the body in prayer.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Shoah<\/em>. Before the Shoah became THE Shoah, it was simply a synonym for disaster or catastrophe. It is in that meaning that it is used twice in verse 8 (\u201cLet disaster [<\/span>shoah<\/span><\/em>] overtake them unawares; let the net they hid catch them; let them fall into it when [<\/span>shoah<\/span><\/em>] disaster [strikes]\u201d), to refer to what the psalmist desires for his enemies. And once in verse 17, when he describes his enemies as ones who are planning \u201c<\/span>sho-ot<\/span><\/em>\u201d (\u201ctheir attacks\u201d), and which he prays to be delivered from.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. War – or metaphor?<\/em> In the first part of the psalm, war is described in very concrete terms, including weapons, and escape routes. But in the second half, the battlefield becomes a metaphor for complex social relations.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. What will they say? <\/em>Public opinion, both positive and negative, regarding both the psalmist and his God, is present throughout the psalm. The psalmist is worried about what his enemies say about him, upset when they rejoice at his downfall, desires the rejoicing of his friends in his success. He even promises to reward the LORD for His help, in fostering positive public opinion about him: \u201cI may praise You in a great congregation, acclaim You in a mighty throng\u201d (verse 18).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":53645,"id":53645,"title":"general-qs-points to
