You don\u2019t want me
\nTo forgive you. You dread the thought
\nThat I might photosynthesize<\/p>\n

The obsidian sunlight
\nRadiating from your skin. You can\u2019t bear
\nWhat might blossom<\/p>\n

From the sickness-seeds you sowed
\nIn the soil of my flesh
\nBlackened shoots, like something charred<\/p>\n

By forgiveness, the forgiveness
\nYou can\u2019t bear
\nThe earth of me to bear<\/p>\n

When nothing made of earth
\nIs made to photosynthesize
\nThe terrible spectrum of death and life<\/p>\n

You radiate from your skin. You try to turn
\nFrom the shoots growing toward you
\nFrom the holes you opened<\/p>\n

In the earth of this flesh
\nThat receives your touch
\nAs something that hurts<\/p>\n

And hurts too much
\nTo do anything
\nBut forgive.<\/p>\n

Psalm 32 is brought here as a contrast to this psalm. The Psalm is about the joy and relief of forgiveness, and how forgiveness leads to health and growth. In contrast, this psalm is all about how someone fears forgiveness, and there is an almost sickly growth that comes from the pain.<\/em> <\/p>\n
