I try so hard not to be<br \/>\nOne of your hopes<br \/>\nStarting hungrily through the leaves.<\/p>\n<p>I talk to you incessantly<br \/>\nBut you can count on the fingers <br \/>\nOf the hand you don\u2019t have<\/p>\n<p>The times I\u2019ve heard you answer. Occasionally<br \/>\nI\u2019m blinded<br \/>\nBy your beauty.<br \/>\nOne blink<\/p>\n<p>And the reassuring <br \/>\nLids of life<br \/>\nClose over you again. Now<\/p>\n<p>I have no life to lid<br \/>\nThe terrifying continent of your longing<br \/>\nTo meet a gaze<\/p>\n<p>That meets your gaze<br \/>\nNaked and unashamed, an image of you <br \/>\nThat can stand the sight<\/p>\n<p>Of the image it was made in.<\/p>\n<p><em>There are three strong parallels between this psalm and Psalm 22. The first is the connection between being created. This psalm references God creating humanity on the sixth day, and in Psalm 22 it discusses the individual becoming God\u2019s responsibility from the moment it exited the womb. The second is the sense of the individual falling apart. In this psalm the individual pulls themself together, while in Psalm 22 the person is slowly deteriorating.
