You\u2019ll scare me<br \/>\nTo one death or another<br \/>\nIf you come closer.<br \/>\nI smell you on my clothes, my books,<br \/>\nThe toys of my children scatter,<\/p>\n<p>My two or three private parts<br \/>\nDevoted solely <br \/>\nTo radiating pain, my organs<\/p>\n<p>Of need and pleasure. Why do you bother<br \/>\nTo provoke this terror<br \/>\nIn something small and unimportant<br \/>\nThat asks nothing<br \/>\nBut to be allowed to vanish?<br \/>\nWhy do you bother with us at all<\/p>\n<p>When your being is bounded <br \/>\nBy no conditions<br \/>\nBut absolute freedom<\/p>\n<p>And absolute distance<br \/>\nFrom the bits of bone and truth<br \/>\nThat comes closer and closer to freezing<\/p>\n<p>The closer we come<\/p>\n<p>To you?<\/p>\n<p><em>In Psalm 7 it says \u201clest, like a lion, they tear me apart, rending in pieces, and no one save me.\u201d The line echoes the line \u201cSometimes you rip me to shreds, sometimes squeeze till my ribs crack, always.\u201d While there are different enemies, both authors feel the pain of being broken and pulled apart.<\/em> <\/p>\n<p>from: Joy Ladin,\u00a0<em>Psalms<\/em>, Wipf and Stock, 2010<\/p>\n","image":{"ID":80744,"id":80744,"title":"joy ladin -
