  1. Ancien vague<\/em>. What happened? There\u2019s distress, but there are no details as to circumstances. What so distressed the psalmist is left vague, such that anyone suffering can find words for their pain in this psalm.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Panic attack<\/em>. Among the words of faith that are spoken aloud in the psalm, there are also cracks where anxiety reaches the heart, hasty thoughts filled with doubt and despair: \u201cAlarmed, I had thought, \u201cI am thrust out of Your sight.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Regards from the whale<\/em>\u2026Parts of verses 7 and 23 are identical to the prayer that Jonah offers after three days in the belly of the fish – see Jonah 2:9 and 5.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. And from Jeremiah<\/em>. Verse 14 in the psalm is identical to part of verse 10 of Jeremiah 20. And if you remember anything about Jeremiah, his biography and suffering, can see that this psalm fits him to a T.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Chesed means being noticed<\/em>. In verse 8, the great chesed<\/em> is not being saved but the feeling that there is an address, and that God sees and hears, and that we are not alone: \u201cLet me exult and rejoice in Your faithfulness when You notice my affliction, are mindful of my deep distress\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","image":{"ID":53645,"id":53645,"title":"general-qs-points to
