Psalm 25 turns to an acrostic structure, following the Hebrew alphabet. However, the psalm adds a twist by also skipping several letters. The chapter begins with two verses beginning with the letter <\/span>alef<\/span><\/em>, then skips to <\/span>gimel<\/span><\/em>. The next few verses continue the acrostic but <\/span>vav<\/em> <\/span>is mixed with <\/span>hey<\/em> <\/span>in verse five.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The next letter that is skipped is the <\/span>kof<\/span><\/em>, which should be in between the <\/span>tzadi<\/em> <\/span>in verse 17 and the <\/span>reish<\/em> <\/span>in verse 18. Instead, the <\/span>reish<\/em> <\/span>is repeated in 18 and 19 before ending the <\/span>alef-bet<\/span><\/em>. The final twist has the Psalm ending in the letter <\/span>peh<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This isn’t the only Psalm that skips letters in an acrostic line up, and seems that David was not content with following a simple pattern. Instead, by utilizing a basic structure, but manipulating it somewhat, David shows his mastery of the poetic verse, ever keeping his reader on their toes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
