“Who shall ascend the mountain of the Lord, and who shall stand in His holy place?” (Psalm 24:3)<\/span><\/p>\n

“And it came to pass after these things, that God tried Abraham; and He said, ‘Abraham,’ and he answered, ‘I am here.’\u00a0 And He said, ‘Take now your son, your only one, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him as a burnt sacrifice on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.” (Genesis 22:1-2)<\/span><\/p>\n

O Judge of all the earth, I lift my eyes<\/span>
\n<\/span>Unto the mountain where my boy must die,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Where I must sacrifice this child whom I <\/span>
\n<\/span>Have loved, this son who caused my sun to rise.<\/span>
\n<\/span>I know that every living creature dies;<\/span>
\n<\/span>I know my mind will never reach Your sky;<\/span>
\n<\/span>I know how great Your justice is; but why<\/span>
\n<\/span>Am I the agent of my son’s demise?<\/span><\/p>\n

O God who promised seed like stars, like sand,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Like dust, what should I do to justify<\/span>
\n<\/span>Your faith in me, my faith in You?\u00a0 I give<\/span>
\n<\/span>You back the child You gave, for You command<\/span>
\n<\/span>My son, and all his unborn sons, to die.<\/span>
\n<\/span>Must Isaac die?\u00a0 Shall Isaac die, or live?<\/span><\/p>\n
