  1. World. Home. Everlasting doors<\/em>. There is movement in the psalm. It begins \u201cwide\u201d – in the great big world that God created. It then narrows its focus to \u201cHis holy place,\u201d to which one who is worthy can draw close. Then, the call to open the \u201ceternal gates\u201d – are these the fates of the Temple, which have existed \u201ceternally?\u201d Or is the intention the entire world which is the site of God\u2019s revelation? Permission to interpret – granted.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Regards from Ps 15<\/em>. 9 psalms ago, in Ps 15, a similar question to that which appears in verse 3 was asked: \u201cwho may sojourn in Your tent, who may dwell on Your holy mountain?\u201d The answer, too, was similar, though it was more explicit about how the worthy person would handles him\/her\/self in society. Worth comparing.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. A place in the world<\/em>. When, and where did they used to sing this psalm? Imagine a Temple. Imagine a festive procession approaching it. In the procession is the Ark of the Covenant, representing the glory of God. The parade ascends the mountain. The Temple fates are ahead. In this exuberant encounter, the psalm calls for both the person and the temple to open up, open wide, to the greatness. This psalm is sung in many communities when returning the Torah to the Ark when it is read on weekdays.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. A Song for Sunday<\/em>. According to the Mishna (Tamid, 7:4), this psalm was the psalm that the Levites sang in the Temple every week on Sunday. That\u2019s how they began their week.
