  1. One of the most famous<\/em>\u2026 If not THE most famous. Psalm that is. The whole psalm and chosen verses. Both in Judaism and in Christianity.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The <\/em><\/strong>Shepherd<\/em>. The shepherd as an image of a leader is very powerful and common in the Tanach, for both human and divine leadership. We\u2019ve seen it in several prophecies (Ezek 34, for instance). The psalm takes the image and makes is a \u201cprivate shepherd\u201d taking care of the individual, in every way (not as part of a flock).<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Your rod and your staff<\/em>. The staff (<\/span>mishenet<\/span><\/em>) <\/span><\/i>is a stick to lean on, as in the prophecy of Zecharia: \u201cThere shall yet be old men and women in the squares of Jerusalem, each with staff in hand because of their great age\u201d (Zech. 8:4). The rod, however (<\/span>shevet<\/span><\/em>) is the stick to hit with, as in the saying \u201cHe who spares the rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him early.\u201d (Proverbs 13:24). So both the support, and the reproofs will \u201ccomfort me\u201d (verse 4).<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Shepherd, and host<\/em>. Is that two separate images, or are they related? Do they complement each other?
